My present view of ministry is that ministry happens in community. Ministry takes place in every aspect of a congregation's life. Clean-up days, worship services, committee meetings, picnics, potlucks, and pool parties are all places where service to one another and God can transpire. As a spiritual leader, I do not see myself in the position of one who has all the answers. Nor do I believe that forcing my own spiritual habits on others is effective. Spiritual leadership needs to be open to the Spirit already at work in others and to the different manifestations of that Spirit.

I would also hope that my role as an administrator would be Spirit led. I have enough experience to know that this is hard to achieve. I view every member to be a minister. Empowering people to participate in the ministry life of the church is important for the health of any congregation. By my own willingness to go the extra mile, others may be encouraged to do the same.

I know that some churches need strong leadership from the pastor to build up the ministry life or to transition the life of the congregation. Other churches are more established and want to maintain and grow their programs and ministries. At this stage in my career I am flexible in my leadership style. Thus, I understand the benefit of getting to know a congregation before I determine my particular direction of leadership for that congregation. Creativity is one leadership trait and view of ministry that I am certain to bring to any church or position. I consider myself to be an artist and more specifically a performing artist. I believe this facet of my ministry will have beneficial results in all areas of the church life.

As a church leader, I hope to constantly be in a state of growing, growing in faith, grace, and gifts in order to fulfill my calling to the best of my abilities.

“To God be the Glory, great things He has done!

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son!”

Hi, my name is Dave,

My wife, Julie and I have been married for over 20 years. We have been blessed with seven kids and three grandchildren. One of our favorite things to do is disappear from time to time and take a nap. All kidding aside, we enjoy loving our family and watching them grow. We are Cedar Point platinum card holders and try to get up there as much as possible. We also enjoy hiking, swimming and eating. Taco’s and fajitas are our favorite.

Shortly after receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I joined a Christian church in the Akron area and was baptized. I sensed a call to pastoral ministry and was led to my first full-time ministry opportunity at Lockwood United Methodist Church.

Julie and I enjoy serving God together. We’ve served in full time ministry as long as we’ve been married. Julie earned her Master’s Degree in pastoral counseling at Ohio Christian University and I was ordained pastor within the Free Methodist Church. We are called to preach and teach the gospel and to see all people to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3)
